Book Details + Condition: Very scarce Private Printing of Arthur Edward Waite's classic grimoire, THE BOOK OF BLACK MAGIC AND OF PACTS, INCLUDING THE RITES AND MYSTERIES OF GOETIC THEURGY, SORCERY AND INFERNAL NECROMANCY. Published by de Laurence, Scott & Company (Chicago), 1910. "Faithfully reproduced from the London Edition of 1898, this has been privately printed by Dr. L.W. de Laurence, as stated on the title page and front cover, in gilt. One of the many titles "Edited" by Dr. Lauron William de Laurence, this deLaurence First Edition is believed to be a Pirate Edition of the Pirated "Occult Publishing House" First American Edition of 1910. 297 pages; illustrated throughout with "two hundred illustrations". Contents include: Magical Rituals; Ceremonial Magic; White and Black Magic; Transcendental Magic; Key of Solomon the King; Lesser Key of Solomon; Goetic Magic; Names and Offices of Evil Spirits; and so much more. In good condition, with firm binding; light fading to cloth along spine; bumped corners; toning to edges of endpapers; some old scuffing to corners of rear endpapers (perhaps something was attached earlier); light uniform age-toning to pages; chipping to 2 blank preliminary page top corners (with one having a bit of clear tape); interior is clean and free of markings. A very scarce copy of the original 1910 edition.
