A SERIES OF LECTURES ON THE SCIENCE OF CELESTIAL PHILOSOPHY OR THE LANGUAGE OF THE STARS - PART I
Book Details + Condition: Sherwood, Gilbert and Piper (London). First Edition, 1835. Very scarce. 80 pages, followed by 16 pages of advertisements including "Dr. Sibly's Re-animating Solar Tincture" and "Lunar Tincture Prepared by Dr. Sibly, Peculiarly Adapted to the Female Sex". Includes a fold-out "Synoptical Table of the System of Celestial Philosophy". This is Zuriel's (pseudonym for J. Wheeler) first and only published work. Little is known about the author, save that he was a teacher of astronomy as well as astrology. This work was intended as the first book in a projected series - but the remaining parts were either never created or published. A very scarce work by an elusive astrologer, with wear to original hard covers; soiling and discoloration present; chipping to spine ends, with a bit of cloth removed to bottom; cracked interior hinges (with residue of old tape), but binding remains firm; occult bookshop stamp to title page; age-toning to pages, with areas of darkening present.
