A very scarce, African American children's book portraying the late 19th / early 20th century view of African Americans, complete with a stereotypical "Mammy" and young African American child. The boards and binding are solid and tight save for some shelfwear. The pages are crisp and clean save for small old library stamp on the inside front board and very small remains of an ex libris label on the inside back board. The pages and beautiful colorful illustrations by Inez Hogan portraying early African American life are crisp and clean. Sara Cone Bryant was a late 19th - early 20th century children's author who was well known for her portrayal of African American life in children's books. The books are very scarce today.
