Publisher: E.P. Dutton and Co., New York and London (1882)
Very scarce first edition copy from 1882 of "Fly-Away Fairies and Baby-Blossoms," by Louise Clarkson. An attractive melding of words and images, this volume contains her well noted poetry with lovely 14 chromolithograph illustrations. Each illustration is initialed in plate on the bottom of the page. The cloth backed pictorial boards and binding are solid and tight save for some rubbing and shelfwear. Former owner's name on second page. The pages and chromolithograph illustrations are crisp and clean, save for some foxing along the spine border of the title page, and a spot or two of very light foxing along the borders of a few pages. Louise Clarkson was active 1877 to 1898, and was a well known children's author and illustrator most noted for her vibrant use of color and details. She was an early pioneer of the Golden Age of Illustrations. A beautiful and rare find of illustrated Victorian fairies.
