THE SUN-EGG

Book Details + Condition: Extremely scarce first American edition from a famous children's author and illustrator. Harper & Brothers (New York and London), 1933. Originally published in the native Swedish language, in 1932. This English edition was printed in Sweden. Translated from the Swedish by Zita Beskow. 24 pages with full-page color illustrations. Measures 13" x 10". The author, Elsa Beskow, was a Swedish children's book author and illustrator. She is often called the 'Beatrix Potter' of Scandinavia. In this beautifully illustrated picture book, a mysterious orange egg has fallen into the woods. 'It's a sun egg!' declares the elf who finds it nestled on the forest floor. Soon she and her friends find out what it really is, but not before the little elf goes off on one of the best adventures she has ever had. Filled with beautiful, sweet full-color illustrations of fairies, elves, and woodland creatures. In very good condition: tight binding; light shelf wear, with slight smudging to boards; text is clean and unmarked.
