Pages are clean and unmarked. John Todd Ferrier (1855 – 1943) founded The Order of the Cross in 1904, a Christian spiritual fellowship dedicated to the advocacy and protection of animals and the practice and encouragement of vegetarianism and veganism and peaceful co-existence of man explained through the Christian Dogma. They promoted the concept that animals have souls — a rarity for the time. The book outlines the tenants of these philosophies.
