Her sweetheart Richard does not approve of spiritualism, but the obstacles to their romance are finally removed. Occult romance of a rather bloodless sort. In one chapter an angel guides Beatrice on a visit to an idealized earth where a gallery of statues represents the changing state of human emotions on earth, time breathing them into greater or lesser nobility, according to their fate on earth.
