THE CHALICE OF ECSTASY, BEING A MAGICAL AND QABALISTIC INTERPRETATION OF THE DRAMA OF PARZIVAL

Book Details + Condition: Yogi Publication Society (Chicago). First Edition, 1923. Octavo hardcover with original maroon boards; gilt title (etc) to front and spine. 82 pages. Illustrated with b&w frontispiece. By Frater Achad, pseudonym for famous occultist and author Charles Stansfeld Jones (1886-1950). In the book, Jones presents a "magical and qabalistic interpretation" of Wagner's work "Parzival", and explores the myths upon which it is based. Jones was a student of Aleister Crowley: before their falling out, Crowley had designated Jones go be his heir and successor. He also founded the first O.T.O. chapter in North America. In THE CHALICE OF ECSTASY, Jones makes comparisons to "Liber AL vel Legis"; it is known to be Jones' only book for which Crowley gave unequivocal approval.

Firm binding; bumped corners; light shelf wear to boards, with a bit of mottling (difficult to see); chafed spine ends; interior is clean and free of markings. All books are carefully packed, and shipped in boxes.
