FREEMASONRY OF THE ANCIENT EGYPTIANS
Book Details + Condition: Philosophical Research Society: Los Angeles, CA (1971). Maroon cloth boards with gilt on spine. Hardcover large octavo. 162 pages. Illustrated. Manly Palmer Hall (1901-1990) was a Canadian-born occultist, mystic and author best known for his "The Secret Teaching of All Ages." This work focuses on the Egyptian mysteries, and includes a restoration of the "Crata Repoa Rite" which according to Hall "sets forth the principal elements of initiatory drama." "That the gods of Egypt were elements of a profound magical system and possessed a significance far different from that advanced by modern Egyptologists is certain. The various deities of the Nile valley were elements of an elaborate magical metaphysical system, a kind of ceremonial Cabbala." Despite the title the book has little to do with Freemasonry - Hall uses it for dramatic purposes. The book does not appear to have been read, and has tight binding, with light shelf wear at edges and a clean and unmarked interior.
