HIGH MAGIC'S AID
Book Details + Condition: I-H-O Books (Thame, England), 1999. Softcover, 218 pages with illustrations. Very scarce in this edition, which includes a new introduction by Patricia Crowther. Considered one of the best known books in the 20th century witchcraft canon; the book that started it all and the standard work on Wicca, Witchcraft and Paganism by "The Father of Wicca," Gerald B. Gardner. In "High Magic's Aid," Gardner used fiction as a vessel to discuss the magical craft, drawing from rituals such as "The Key of Solomon" and other works which he also wove into his own witchcraft practice. Gardner - who knew Aleister Crowley - wrote the book under his magical name "Scire." "High Magic's Aid" takes the reader on a quest to uncover the ancient, lost and forbidden secrets of Magic and Witchcraft. Contents include: High Magic's Aid; Seeking a Witch; Moon's Aid; Music Magic; Charging the Pentacles; The Witch Cult; Castles & Lands; and more. A firm and clean copy of a very scarce edition, with firm binding, light shelf wear to covers, and a clean interior. This edition has an interesting bookbinding error, making it more scarce and collectible - pp 61/62 and pp 159/160 have been transposed, and bound upside-down (pp 159/160 appear upside-down in the place of where pp 61/62 should exist).
