Facsimile (later known known as the Golden Dragon Leather edition), limited to 500 individually numbered copies bound in special full calf-leather binding, of which this is number 35. Signed by each of the two publishers, on a special limitation plate, pasted at the bottom of the back pastedown endpaper. This is the ultimate edition of this mammoth tome (about 500 pages), and arguably one of the most handsome of the facsimile editions, printed on specially manufactured paper and with specially tinted inks designed to recreate the appearance and feel of the original. John Dee's "Of Spirits and Apparitions" is a landmark work in the Western Magical / Hermetic Tradition, and one of the most remarkable magical records ever written. The work was assembled from Dee's diaries and writings 50 years after his death by Meric Casaubon, and records the conversations which Dee and his assistant, Edward Kelly, held with various angels, the methods they used to summon them, and an exploration of the angelic language termed Enochian (on account of "The Book of Enoch"). It is the foundation work of "Enochian Magic," which was integral to the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn and Aleister Crowley. Full leather boards are in near-new condition, as the work doesn't seem to have been read. The scarce decorated slipcase is in very good condition, with only minor shelf wear, mainly at edges and corners.
