Book Details + Condition: Early edition from 1894 of Moses Wolcott Redding's MASONIC ANTIQUITIES OF THE ORIENT UNVEILED. Maroon cloth boards with gilt on spine. 454 pages. Illustrated. Measures 7.75” x 5.75”. Full title: Masonic Antiquities of the Orient Unveiled. A Concise Description of the Wonderful Ruins of the Substructions of King Solomon's Temple, and of the Ancient and Remarkable Cities Built by the Ancient Builders, Including Tadmor, Baalbek, Babylon, Nineveh and Damascus. Embellished throughout with lithographs and engravings, including beautiful illustrations by Gustav Dore. Also includes large fold-out map of Jerusalem and Mt. Moriah. At end of text, there are 2 sections: “Chronology of Remarkable Events in the History of Jerusalem and the Temple” and “Course and Distance from the Center of the City of Jerusalem to the Following Places.” Interior hinge cracked but binding remains tight; light discoloration to boards; rubbed corners & edges; light chipping to front decorated endpaper; text is clean and unmarked, save owner’s name on inside front board.
