George Chetwyn Griffith-Jones (1857-1906) was a prolific British science fiction writer, and pioneering fantasy author. He was also a famous explorer, who among other things, helped discover the source of the Amazon river. He was extremely popular in the United Kingdom, and his works foreshadowed World War I, the Russian Revolutions, and aeronautic defense inventions. Griffith sought to meld ancient dangers and terrors to the unbelievers of modern times - here, involving the supernatural events that unfold after a professor acquires an ancient mummy. From the Foreword: "Certain it should be that beyond and about this World of Length and Breadth and Thickness there is another World or State of Existence consisting of these and another dimension of which only those beings who are privileged to enter or dwell in it can have any conception."
