Book Details + Condition: W.H. Harrison (London). Scarce First Edition, 1879. Hardcover. Small octavo, 144 pages with 12 pages of ads at rear. Original cobalt blue cloth, gilt-lettered on spine and on front board, with red page edges. Title-page states that the pseudonymous author also penned the book "Psychography." A volume now known to be by William Stainton Moses (1839-1892), an English clergyman and spiritualist. Moses was a highly respected figure, who claimed a number of clairvoyant and psychical experiences, who was best known for his 'automatic scripts,' received via direct communication from a band of 'spirits,' between 1872 and 1883. These communications were discussed in this book and also in his 'Spirit Teachings'. Interior hinge cracked, but binding remains firm; spine a bit darkened and lightly rippled; slight bruising and fraying to cloth at spine ends; light shelf wear to boards, with areas of darkening and rubbing; interior is clean and unmarked.
