THE INHERITANCE OF ACQUIRED CHARACTERISTICS — By Dr. Paul Kammerer, 1st Edition / 1st Printing, 1924 HC/DJ — Environmental Vitalism, Developmental Biology, Experimental Biology, Eugenics, with Scarce Dust Jacket
Publisher: Boni and Liveright, New York (1924 )
In overall excellent condition. The boards and binding are solid and tight, with minimal wear. 414 pages, with illustrations throughout. The hand-cut pages are crisp and clean with some pages remaining uncut. The book does not seem to have been read. The scarce dust jacket is also in very well preserved condition, with minimal shelfwear; a small blemish on the back cover only. It appears to have been price cut, but there are also publisher cuts apparent to the dust jacket. The book is protected by a Mylar plastic jacket. "The Inheritance
of Acquired Characteristics...summarizes
Kammerer's experiments, and explains their significance. In his book, Kammerer
aims to explain how offspring inherit traits from their parents. In Inheritance,
Kammerer compiles the results of his lifelong experiments on development and
inheritance, which he had presented in a series of conferences while traveling
in the US and Britain in 1923 and 1924. In his 1924 book, Kammerer claims that
organisms inherit their parents' acquired features. Additionally, Kammerer
argues that through the inheritance of acquired features, it is possible to
improve human society by manipulating developmental processes and producing
better individuals. Inheritance
consists of two sections, titled 'Biological Part' and 'Eugenical
Part.'..." -The Embryo Project Encyclopedia, 2015
