Softcover, approximately 100 pages. Brown paper binding with black lettering. Reprint of a volume on witchcraft by English Puritan preacher George Gifford, originally published in 1593. Gifford was of the opinion that witches existed and should be prosecuted, but the fervor with which witches were hunted was overblown and should be restrained. This edition includes an introduction by Beatrice White, and was published for The Shakespeare Association, who printed a series of four facsimiles "illustrating life and thought in Shakespeare's England," with this being the first volume. Firm binding; light wear to covers, with a bit of discoloration; marker to inside front cover; interior is clean and free of markings, save 2 small inked notations in margin.
