In well preserved condition. 226 pp, with black-and-white photographs. The boards and binding are solid and tight save minimal shelfwear. The pages are crisp and clean save some spots of foxing near the borders of the preface, title and photo illustration pages. The dust jacket is in very good condition with some minor chipping and shelfwear; it remains uncut, with the original price still present. Joseph Winthrop Holley (1874–1958) was a 19th- and 20th-century African American educator and author. He is best known as the founder of Albany State University, which he founded in 1903 as the Albany Bible and Manual Training Institute. He served as the school's President from its inception until his retirement in 1943.
