THE TAROT: A KEY TO THE WISDOM OF THE AGES

Book Details + Condition: Macoy Publishing (New York). First Edition, 1947. Hardcover with original dust jacket. 215 pages, with b&w illustrations. Seminal work on the tarot, written by Paul Foster Case. Many students of the Western esoteric tradition consider Case's "The Tarot" the finest explanation that has yet appeared on the occult meaning of numbers, the construction of the Tarot, and the attribution of the 22 Major Trumps to the Hebrew alphabet. In clear and understandable language, Case elucidates the Tarot tradition and technique for the modern thinker. Students of the Tarot will find in these pages the necessary information to understand and apply the principles of Tarot-and the correspondences of symbol, tone, color, and number-to the art of daily living. The author also includes extremely useful chapters on methods of study and Tarot divination. Firm binding; interior is clean and free of markings. Dust jacket has wear at edges and corners (larger rip to upper corner), and has darkening / soiling.

Paul Foster Case was an American occultist of the early 20th century and author of numerous books on occult tarot and Qabalah. Perhaps his greatest contributions to the field of Occultism were the lessons he wrote for associate members of Builders of the Adytum. The Knowledge Lectures given to initiated members of the Chapters of the B.O.T.A. were equally profound, although the limited distribution has made them less well known.
