APOLOGIA DE QUINTO SEPTIMIO FLORENTE TERTULIANO

Book Details + Condition: Diego Dormer (Çaragoça, Spain). 1644. Bound in (what appears to be the original) vellum with painted lettering to spine. 214 pages. Volume of the writings of Roman-Carthaginian Christian apologist commonly known as Tertullian, translated into Spanish by Franciscan bishop Pedro Manero. Tertullian was active during the 2nd and 3rd centuries C.E., and this text serves as a defense of Christianity and an argument for the equal treatment of Christians in the Roman Empire. A solid copy of a very scarce historical religious document, with firm binding; wear to original vellum covers; a bit of vellum covering missing from spine; burn marks (!) to title page and next ~10 pp (please see pictures); tear and missing corner to rear blank endpaper; very old faded water mark to top edge of most pages; interior is otherwise free of markings.
