Impressive volume comprised of the works of Romano-Jewish historian Titus Flavius Josephus, who was active in the first century C.E. Translated by English theologian William Whiston and including an introduction by English churchman Henry Stebbing, both active in the 17th and 18th centuries. This book is subtitled "The learned and authentic Jewish historian and celebrated warrior, to which are added seven dissertations concerning Jesus Christ, John the Baptist, James the Just, God's command to Abraham, etc." The main works included are "Antiquities of the Jews" and "Wars of the Jews," and a biography of the author is present. Includes many engraved illustrations throughout, with a frontispiece depicting Josephus. A beautifully bound copy in very good condition, with firm binding and a clean interior, free of markings.
