Pseudo-archaeology volume by American politician and fringe scientist Ignatius Donnelly, on the lost continent of Atlantis and its inhabitants. Divided into five sections titled, respectively, "The History of Atlantis," "The Deluge," "The Civilization of the Old World and New Compared," "The Mythologies of the Old World: A Recollection of Atlantis," and "The Colonies of Atlantis." Donnelly proposes that all ancient civilizations descended from the surviving population of Atlantis after a cataclysmic flood destroyed the lost land. Illustrations throughout.
