INTRODUCING DOCTOR ZODIAC
Book Details + Condition: Andrew Dakers Limited (London). First Edition, 1940. Scarce. 250 pages. Hardcover. Historical fiction novel by German-Hungarian author Louis de Wohl, which tells the story of Adolf Hitler's attempts to hire the Hungarian Dr. Zodiac to be his personal astrologer. In 1935, the author and astrologist emigrated to England due to his objections to the Nazi regime. Wohl later served as an astrologer notable for his work with MI5 during World War II. He was recruited initially by Sir Charles Hambro, then running the Special Operations Executive, to devise “black propaganda” for use against Germany, and allegedly as an informant because he was casting horoscopes for people of interest to MI5. An overall firm and clean copy of a very scarce first edition, with tight binding; rubbed corners and edges; light wear to boards; light foxing to endpapers and text block; interior is clean and free of markings.
