The book includes 31 prayers from around the world, with a Native and Latin American emphasis. Marah Ellis Ryan was a popular author, actress and activist for Native Americans at the turn of the 20th century. From The New York Times obituary: Mrs. Ryan went to live among the Hopi Indians twenty-five years ago and claimed to be the only white woman ever admitted to the secret religious rites. She was noted as an authority on the tribal life of the Indians in the United States and Mexico.  Contents include: To the Creative God (Accadian); Apache Prayer (American); Navajo Liturgy (American); Prayer to the Sun (Chaldean); Hymn To Amun-ra (Egyptian); On the Writing of a Prayer of Praise (Mexican); Babylonian Prayer for Health; and more. Tight binding; rubbed corners and edges; paper missing on top and bottom spine; small hole in spine to inside; interior is clean and free of markings, save owner's name on half-title page.
