Pagination: 428pp; 413pp. Sir James George Frazer's famous work was first published in 1890, and revised by Frazer throughout his lifetime. This two-volume limited edition was condensed by Frazer from his third (and final) edition (1922). The thorough work describes primitive methods of worship, sex practices, rituals and festivals. Disproving the popular thought that primitive life was simple, Frazer demonstrates how early humans were surrounded with magic, taboos, and superstitions. Chapters include:
