Book Details + Condition: T.R. Marvin (Boston). First Edition, 1828. Hardcover with paper-covered boards, measuring 8" x 5". 156 pages. By Canonicus, pseudonym for William Shedd (1797-1830), a New England evangelist preacher. Firm binding; rubbed corners and edges; wear to boards and paper spine covering; nameplate to inside front board; stamp to title page and number to reverse; interior is otherwise free of markings. In this work, Shedd addresses William E. Channing (1780-1842), the influential Boston Unitarian preacher. Shedd opposes the Unitarian belief to deny the existence of Satan and his angels. Through the study of Biblical scripture, Shedd contends that demonology, and the existence of Satan and his fallen angels, is very real, and not simply reflective of a personal state.
