Very scarce, first edition, first printing of "The Scottish Songs," Collected and Illustrated by Robert Chambers, from 1829. For both volumes, the boards and bindings are solid and tight save for chipping on the bottom of spine in volume 1 and shelf-wear. Flaking to leather of spine in volume II. Ex-libris bookplates on inside front boards for both volumes (from a bishop, and "after his death, belongs to the Seminary Library in Cleveland"). Library number written on spines. The pages are crisp and clean save embossed library stamp and roman numbers of 28 on top of both title pages. Three-quarter leather binding. A wonderful scarce find, of the traditional Scottish folk songs... Compiled in 1829.
