Dr. Anna B. Kingsford

Anna B. Kingsford, (16 September 1846 – 22 February 1888), Kingsford was an author and spiritualist whom with her co-worker, Edward Maitland, promoted a Hermetic approach to Christianity and metaphysics. She is best known for her books: The Perfect Way, published in 1882 and Astrology Theologized in 1886. Psychically, Kingsford claimed she received insights in trance-like states and in her sleep. Edward Maitland claimed that on this account she was more accurate in her predictions than most. Kingsford was also interested in Buddhism and Gnosticism, and became active in the theosophical movement in England, becoming president of the London Lodge of the Theosophical Society.
