Details + Condition: Unique Art Nouveau bronze expandable and contractable book rack / bookends, circa 1890s - early 1900s. Features mythological creatures in the design, including a Green Man or devil, a griffin or phoenix and others in a winding floral vine motif. The book rack has a spring mechanism which once expanded automatically contracts to snuggly hold the books in place. In very good antique condition, with the rods opening and closing smoothly.
