FROM PIONEER TO POET OR THE TWELVE GREAT GATES: AN EXPANSION OF THE SIGNS OF THE ZODIAC — By Isabelle M. Pagan — 1st Edition / 1st Printing, 1911 — Astrology, Zodiac,
Mystical, Hermetic Occult, Scottish Astrologer

Publisher: The Theosophical Publishing Society, London (1911)

In well preserved condition. The boards and binding are solid and tight, save for light shelfwear. The pages are crisp and clean save for a few small spots of foxing on the top of the first three pages. Former owner's name on top of first blank page. 318 pages, illustrated throughout. Isabelle M. Pagan was a leading Scottish astrologer and Theosophist during the late 19th and early 20th century. The book, a precursor to Linda Goodman's Sun Sign book, was written when Alan Leo was reformatting astrology, but before Charles Carter's earliest books. As this was prior to the days of computers and snap editing and publishing, Pagan's thoughts had to be carefully considered and recorded. Her book is filled with unique perspectives and personal observation. There is an aura of ancient wisdom in the book that is missing from contemporary writing. Each sign is divided into categories: Ruler; Evolved and Primitive Types; Love and Friendship; In Drama and Fiction; In Real Life; Literary Style; Religion; Physical Characteristics; Health. From Pioneer to Poet includes each of the twelve signs of the zodiac. For each sign there are thoughtful quotations prefacing the chapters. Historical figures are written about in relation to the zodiacal sign under which they were born including their ascendants and sun and moon signs.
