Book Details + Condition: First edition from 1921 of H. Stanley Redgrove and I.M.L. Redgrove 's JOSEPH GLANVILL AND PSYCHICAL RESEARCH IN THE SEVENTEENTH CENTURYOriginal yellow limp cloth wrappers. A volume from Rider's 'Mystics and Occultists' series published in the early 1920s. An unusual study of Joseph Glanvill (1636-1680), the writer, philosopher, and clergyman. Redgrove found much in common between Glanvill - who at once supported rational thought and scientific method, while firmly arguing his belief in witchcraft and the supernatural - and the modern 'psychical researcher.' Fragile copy is in very good condition: cloth lightly rubbed and darkened; light fraying to cloth at spine and corner edges; small nick to two pages; text is clean and unmarked. Measures 6.5" x 4.5".
