This book is largely comprised of historical anecdotes, with chapters on medieval and early modern Europe, the Elizabethan age, the age of colonization in the Americas, ancient Rome, and more, with bibliographic notes on prominent figures in each era. A worn but solid copy of a very scarce first edition, with firm binding; wear to original boards; front endpaper missing; old pencil/pen (now faded) markings to inside boards, title page, and endpaper; foxing throughout; old water stains to bottom edge of pages to rear of book, and to top of front pages.
