Ivory parchment-like paper covered boards (imitation vellum), with the spine and upper cover titled in gilt, and gilt decoration on lower left. Top edge gilt and deckled pages. 193 pages. Beautifully illustrated with 40 full-page plates by the celebrated artist Peter Newell (as well as a frontispiece portrait of Lewis Carroll). Large border decorations in green on every text page by Robert Murray Wright.
A firm and clean copy of a beautiful Lewis Carroll work, with light wear and discoloration to velum boards; darkening to spine; chafed spine ends; old faint name to ffep; interior is clean and free of interior markings, save some intermittent foxing/toning to a few pages. All forty (+ frontispiece) plates are present.
