First British (London) edition, first printing of "Little Brother & Little Sister and Other Tales by The Brothers Grimm," from 1917 in well preserved condition. With 12 tipped-in color plates and numerous black and white illustrations and designs. This work was designed to complement an earlier collection of Grimm's tales illustrated by Rackham (also for sale in our store — please see listing!), and contains 40 stories including Snow White and Rose Red, and The Twelve Brothers. In the original green decorative cloth binding with gilt decoration and titles to the front board and spine. The boards and binding are solid and tight save for one bumped corner and light shelf-wear. The pages are crisp and clean save for very light tanning or foxing to the inside boards and corresponding blank pages. The pages and illustrations are crisp and clean save for a random spot or two of foxing. All tipped-in Arthur Rackham plates are present with original tissue papers. Some of the tissue papers are not attached.
