BOOK OF COMMON PRAYER Richard Watts Cambridge First Stereotype Edition, 1806
The Book of Common Prayer, and Administration of The Sacraments and Other Rites and Ceremonies of the Church, According to the Use of the United Church of England and Ireland; Together with The Psalter of Psalms of David, Stereotyped and Printed by Richard Watts Cambridge Stereotype Edition 1806
Publisher: Richard Watts, Cambridge (1806)
A very rare, scarce first stereotyped edition of "The Book of Common Prayer" published by Richard Watts from 1806. Watts printed a handful of editions of the Book of Common Prayer for Cambridge University between 1804 and 1808, including the first stereotyped edition, making surviving copies very rare. The gilt-embossed leather boards and binding are solid and tight. Shelfwear to book edges and bumped corners. The gilt fore-edge pages are crisp and clean save previous owner's inscription on first blank page from a husband to his wife dated 1801. A beautiful and rare find!
