Forsyth's treatise on occult and religious phenomena, including chapters on astrology, magic, alchemy, prediction and divination, oracles, dreams, Hell, witchcraft and sorcery, demons, ghosts, oracles, talismans, charms, and much more. Please note, this appears to be an editor's or author's copy. There are a few sections of text with distinct editing marks - see pictures. It is also missing the published frontispiece engraving. Overall a firm copy of a very scarce, first edition and most likely preliminary editing copy, with firm binding; heavy wear to paper-covered boards; missing areas of paper to boards and spine; Consistory Library bookplate on inside front board, with owner names on front endpaper. There is also an old magic pyramid / cone written in pencil on last blank page - ABRACADABRA - which was often used as a talisman / charm / cure in the 17th-18th centuries.
