Facsimile reprint of the original publication, which was originally released in 1707 and is a translation of the famous French story "Le Diable Boiteux" by Alain René Le Sage. It tells the story of Don Cleofas (Cleophas), a young Spanish profligate of high lineage, proud and revengeful but brave and generous, who delivers from his imprisonment in a bottle the demon Asmodée (Asmodeus). In gratitude, Asmodeus takes Zambullo for a journey on Madrid’s rooftops and making them transparent, starts to tell the hidden secrets of love and history of all the people he sees. The work is largely a comical one, poking fun of all character types and personalities.
