Limited edition. 95 paginated leaves (190 pgs). Full leather, in slipcase. In overall very well preserved condition. The full calf leather boards and binding are solid and tight, with overall minor wear, mainly at the board corners. The pages are crisp and clean. The book does not seem to have been read. The slipcase is also in very well preserved condition with minor wear.
Facsimile reprint of the 1517 Strasbourg edition, in German. Full page plates, some folding. For the members of the Editions Medicina Rara, Number 18 of 300 copies, on rag paper made especially for this edition. "Gersdorff performed nearly 200 amputations. He opposed Pare's abandonment of boiling oil for the cauterization of wounds. The book contains some instructive pictures of early surgical procedures and includes the first printed picture of an amputation."
