Book Details + Condition: 1879 edition of Robert Morris' FREEMASONRY IN THE HOLY LAND. A NARRATIVE OF MASONIC EXPLORATIONS MADE IN 1868, IN THE LAND OF KING SOLOMON AND THE TWO HIRAMS (Monumental Edition). Robert Morris was a renowned American
Freemason poet and composer of religious hymns, and creator the Order of the
Eastern Star. He composed over 400 poems, many pertaining to the Eastern Star
and Freemasonry, and spent many years of his life in the Holy Land. While there, he wrote hymns and poems based on his experiences and discoveries there, and also composed this massive volume, which contains more than 600 pages of information,
numerous illustrations and maps of the Holy Land, as well as steel engravings
of several Mason leaders of the period. Brown pebbled boards with gilt decoration on front, and gilt title (etc) on spine. FOUND IN THIS BOOK is a circa 1930s EASTERN STAR PETITION FOR DEGREES (for New Hampshire) — blank, except for the application fee of $2.00 written. We'd like to keep the book and petition together. Overall in very good condition: tight and strong binding, minimal shelfwear; slight fading to spine; wear to inside spine / board paper edges (normal with these papered interiors); interior is clean and free of writing, save 3 or 4 pages of toning (due to a 1918 newspaper clipping / bookmark).
