Schuon uses the "perennialist" approach to examine the metaphysical, contemplative, moral, and aesthetic aspects of spiritual paths, with a notable focus on Christianity, and argues that "to know God is to see Him everywhere". The book also examines love of God and the spiritual path towards wisdom, love, and sanctity.
