Ornately decorated cover and with embossed spine; cover dramatically portrays angel of God commanding serpent to depart while Lucifer glides overhead. 401 pages. Measures 12”x10”. The boards and binding are solid and tight; bumped and rubbed corners and edges; heavy shelf wear, with darkened boards and fading to gilt and overall image; decorated front endpaper missing; chipping to title page edges; a few small repaired tears (mainly at edges - this paper is notoriously fragile); pages darkened with foxing at edges (as well as on last blank page). A solid copy of an uncommon edition.
