Written by Georges-Louis Leclerc, Comte de Buffon. Buffon was a leading 18th-century French naturalist, mathematician, cosmologist, and encyclopédiste. His works influenced the next two generations of naturalists. Contains 14 engraved plates of birds. An overall firm copy, with splitting to boards (binding remains firm and tight however); rubbed corners; light wear to boards; darkening to edges of marbled endpapers; normal age toning to pages; interior has 6-7 pages of pencil underlining and notes, with pencilled notes on endpaper.
