  IRISH WITCHCRAFT AND DEMONOLOGY by St. John D. Seymour — 1st Edition / 1st Printing 1973 HC/DJ

Publisher: Causeway Books, New York (1973)

The book is in exceedingly well preserved condition with solid, tight boards and binding, and crisp, clean pages. The interior is free of markings. The dust jacket has minor chipping to the spine ends and a small repaired tear, but remains uncut, with its original price still showing. A well documented, and comprehensive look at witchcraft in Ireland. "Seymour proposes that the witch-craze was more muted in Ireland than elsewhere in Europe. Relatively speaking, there appear to have been fewer cases in Ireland. This doesn't mean that the consequences were any less harsh for the accused. In these texts we can see how people exhibiting what we would today consider schizophrenic or senile behavior were vulnerable to being accused of witchcraft."
