Book Details + Condition: Extremely scarce complete 2-volume set of H.P. Blavatsky's ISIS UNVEILED: A Master-Key to the Mysteries of Ancient and Modern Science and Theology. First published in 1877, this is the 1878 edition (technically the Fourth Edition, but the second year of its publication). Volume I: Science, 628 pages. Volume II: Theology, 692 pages, followed by 34 pages of publisher's advertisements. In Blavatsky's famous first major work, she criticized the science and religion of her day, and asserted that mystical experience and doctrine were the means to attain true spiritual insight and authority. Each volume is in very good condition. Volume I: some shelfwear; rubbing to corners and spine ends; faded stamp of School of Design for Women on endpaper; repaired tear to title page; interior is otherwise clean and free of writing or marking. Volume II: some shelfwear and buckling to part of cloth of front board; rubbing to corners and spine ends; faded stamp of School of Design for Women on endpaper; repaired tear to fold-out image; interior is clean and free of markings.
