Hardcover Folio. 113 pages. Decorated cover with gilt front and spine. Unpaginated with 112 colored illustrations (complete), plus colored illustration on title page. Illustrations are chromo lithography - hand-applied ink onto a litho plate, giving the effect of being hand-colored. Edward Lear was a famous illustrator and author, who thrived in Victorian Europe. His paintings were famous and his books in early editions are now scarce. Lear popularized his trademark limericks, and was well known for his literary nonsense. An overall firm and clean copy, with tight binding; rubbed corners and edges; wear to boards; interior is clean and free of markings save owner's name on front free endpaper.
