Publisher: Edward L. Osgood, Boston (1886)
Very rare first edition, first printing of the "Memorial History of Hartford County Connecticut from 1633-1884" edited by J. Hammond Trumbull. The boards and binding are solid and tight with shelf-wear to the corners and fore-edges of both volumes. The pages are crisp and generally clean save for foxing on boarders of the title pages, and on some of the engravings. A wonderful, comprehensive and highly illustrated 2-volume set with steel engravings on a total of 1280 pages, covering the History of Hartford Country Connecticut and the towns within. Three-quarter leather binding, marbled boards and fore-edges.
The two-volume set is a history of Hartford County, Connecticut. Hartford County is located in
the north-central part of the state and was formed as an original
county in 1666. This history covers a 250-year time span from 1633-1884
in two volumes. Within these two volumes the history is divided into
essentially three parts - the county, Hartford town and city, and the
towns of Hartford County (excluding the town of Hartford). Topics found
in these two volumes include:
Early History of Hartford County
The River Towns, 1635-1666
