Dr. Jirah Dewey Buck (1838-1916) was a
doctor, writer, Theosophist and American Freemason who worked to establish the
first lodge of the Theosophical Society in the United States, the Cincinnati
Theosophical Society, and the American Section of the Theosophical Society in
1886. Buck was also an influential member of Freemasonry including being
awarded the honorable Thirty-Third Degree of the Scottish Rite in his North obedience.
