Westropp's Phallic Worship, and the second is British anthropologist C. Staniland Wake's Influence of the Phallic Idea in the Religions of Antiquity. The essays discuss artifacts and religious practices connected to various literal and allegorical phallic representations. The illustrations found in this second edition were not present in the first edition, thus making it a more thorough edition. Introduction and appendix by American Theosophical scholar Alexander Wilder. Illustrated with several engravings throughout, including a frontispiece depicting the Hindu god Ganesh. Firm binding; rubbing to extremities; light wear to boards; small tear to title page at hinge; interior is clean and free of markings.
