VERY RARE! A gorgeous book, FOLIO (14-1/8" x 10-3/8"), and a wonderful compendium of English theatrical celebrities through biography and 48 colored tipped-in plate portraits of the late Victorian period. All present hand-colored plates are crisp, clean and in excellent condition. The binding is tight. The front board is loose towards the spine's head along with cloth separation and soiling / discoloration. Three plates are missing (please see below for specifics). First blank page has a crease running the length of the page. The title page and second to last page have light foxing. The title page and second page have two very small holes near the spine. A wonderful and scarce book documenting the most notable actors and actresses of late Victorian period through textual description and colored tipped-in portraits.
