From the Psychological Bulletin Review: The aim of this volume seems to be to give a popular discussion of some of the facts of psychical research, in preparation for which there are some introductory chapters on the relation of the brain to intelligence, and on attention and memory. Then follows chapters on hallucinations, sleep, hypnotism, the relation of the mind to disease, the healings of Christian science and the miracles of Lourdes, telepathy and the so-called secondary self. There is nothing in the book that is new to the psychologist, but it is nevertheless to be commended for its attempt to give in simple language for the lay reader the scientific explanation of many of the things usually shrouded in mystery.
