A limited edition of 100 from 1964 of "Raphael or, The Royal Merlin" by Ellic Howe, in excellent condition. The pages are crisp and clean. Small octavo. 40 pages. Original blue cloth with red lettering on spine with silver, dark blue and blind horoscope design on upper board and gilt design on rear board, and black-and-white illustrations. No dust jacket issued. "Edition limited to 100 copies reserved for sale to collectors and libraries..." A short biography of Raphael, who was not one but a series of 19th-century populizers of astrology and the occult who wrote under the pen-name "Raphael." Much of the book covers Robert Cross Smith, the first "Raphael" although the others are also discussed.
